Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gambling is not legal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, features 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that features a number of conveniences accompanying the gambling den, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 table games.
