Zimbabwe Casinos

[ English ]

The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is something of a gamble at the current time, so you could think that there would be very little desire for supporting Zimbabwe’s gambling dens. In reality, it seems to be operating the opposite way, with the awful economic conditions leading to a larger ambition to wager, to attempt to discover a fast win, a way out of the problems.

For many of the people living on the abysmal nearby money, there are two established styles of gambling, the national lotto and Zimbet. As with practically everywhere else in the world, there is a national lottery where the chances of winning are surprisingly small, but then the winnings are also surprisingly high. It’s been said by economists who look at the concept that many do not buy a ticket with the rational belief of profiting. Zimbet is based on one of the national or the English soccer leagues and involves determining the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, on the other hand, cater to the astonishingly rich of the state and tourists. Up till recently, there was a considerably big tourist industry, founded on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic collapse and associated violence have cut into this market.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s casinos, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree gambling den, which has just the slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only one armed bandits. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the two of which have gaming tables, slots and video poker machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, both of which has gaming machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s casinos and the aforestated talked about lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a parimutuel betting system), there is a total of 2 horse racing tracks in the nation: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second city) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the economy has shrunk by more than 40 percent in recent years and with the connected deprivation and crime that has come about, it isn’t known how healthy the vacationing business which supports Zimbabwe’s gambling halls will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will carry on until conditions get better is basically unknown.
