There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gaming is illegal. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that features many conveniences accompanying the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
